How the calculator works

This tool works out what you actually walk away with after selling a card, once all the costs that come out of the sale price are accounted for.

  • Gross profit: Simply your sale price minus your purchase price — the headline number before any costs are deducted.
  • Platform fee: The percentage a marketplace takes from your sale price. This varies by platform — selecting one from the dropdown fills in a typical rate, which you can adjust.
  • Flat fee: A fixed per-order charge some platforms apply on top of their percentage fee.
  • Shipping cost: What it costs you to send the card to the buyer.
  • Grading cost (optional): If you had the card professionally graded before selling, include that cost here to see its true impact on your margin.
  • Net profit: What’s actually left in your pocket — sale price, minus your purchase price, minus all fees, shipping, and grading costs.
  • ROI: Net profit as a percentage of your total cost (purchase price + shipping + grading), showing how efficient the trade was relative to what you put in.
Example: you buy a card for $100 and sell it for $150 on a platform charging 13.6% + $0.40. The platform takes $20.80 in fees, leaving you with $129.20. Subtract your original $100 cost and your net profit is $29.20 — a return of about 29% on your money.
