Prismatic Evolutions Is It Still Worth Investing In

Here’s a number that will shock you. Of the 347 priced cards in Prismatic Evolutions, one Umbreon accounts for about a quarter of the entire set’s value… One flipping card! We love Eevee and the Eeveelutions as much as the guy (or gal), but that’s a lot of weight for any Pokémon to be holding, especially in a set with 300+ cards! So we pulled the data to see how the set has aged, whether there’s money to be made and whether it’s still worth your cold hard cash!

What Made Prismatic Different

Prismatic Evolutions was released in January 2025 and was an Eeveelution special set, and because it’s a special set, something is missing… there’s no standard booster box. There is pretty much everything else, bundles, ETBs, tins etc, but no box. Now why are we even talking about this? Well, this extremely limits how easily anyone can stock up, not having access to a box with 36 packs makes getting quantities a bit more tricky. Then mix that in with 32 Special Illustration Rares and a whole bunch of top-rarity cards, and what do you get…. You get a massive set with HUGE chase potential and a lot of dilution because of supply. Is it starting to make sense right?

The Numbers: Then vs Now

Where the Value Actually Sits

A good starting point is the top ten cards. They combined add up to around $3,400-3,800 USD of a set worth about $4,800-5,500, so about 70% of the set sits in these 10 card. Another important thing to note is that only 76 of the priced cards are worth more than $5, and just 11 are over $100.

The Investment Case Today

Hold if… you bought near retail. The ETB and bundle are already up 2.6-3x, and the Pokémon Center ETB is much more. Why? Because you’re currently up already and Prismatic Evolution is showing similar signs to the 151 set as we mentioned before, it just earlier in its investment cycle.

Buy selectively, especially if you’re only coming in now. The Umbreon is not cheap card at $1,200-1,400 USD raw, a lot of people don’t have that capital, don’t feel bad. In the past year, it spent most of late 2025 and early 2026 in the $900-1,100 USD range, which is where we’d want to be a buyer, not as a seller.

What to skip on? This is pretty simple, the lower SIRs and the Master Ball pattern Eeveelutions averaging around $25-55 USD. There heaps of them about so plenty of supply, no real scarcity, means low chances fore it to go up.

The Reality Check

The TCG Times’ Verdict: Hold the Box, Wait for the Umbreon

If you own sealed Prismatic and brought it near retail, hold that box baby! If you want that chase Umbreon, wait for the $900-1,100 USD zone rather than paying a mid-cycle price. Our walk-away trigger: if Umbreon ex falls below about $800 USD, the 12-month floor, the concept is broken and we’d step aside.
